Samuel Eto'o Accused of Receiving Over 567,000 Euros from Russian Football Federation

Samuel Eto'o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, is accused of receiving over 567,000 euros from the Russian Football Federation on a personal account in Qatar. According to documents consulted by The Times, two transfers of 455,056 euros and 112,514 euros were made to Eto'o's account. The total amount of 567,570 euros corresponds to almost the entire participation fee paid by the Russian Football Federation for a friendly match between Cameroon and Russia in October 2023. Former officials of the Cameroonian Football Federation are demanding explanations about the fate of these funds. They claim that there is no accounting or banking document proving that the funds were transferred to an official account of the federation. Eto'o has denounced a "cabal" against him, linked to his public support for Gianni Infantino's candidacy for the FIFA presidency in 2027. No official investigation has been confirmed by FIFA, despite a complaint filed by former officials of the Cameroonian Football Federation over a year ago.
