According to the French National Assembly’s Sycomore database, Louis-Paul Aujoulat was born on 28 August 1910 at Saïda, in Algeria, and died on 1 December 1973 in Paris. A medical doctor, he founded the Ad lucem foundation hospital at Efok, in Cameroon, in 1936 and directed it until 1945, created an indigenous Catholic Action in 1937 and opened a social secretariat in Douala in 1945. A representative for Cameroon in the Constituent Assemblies from 21 October 1945 and then deputy until 1955, he was under-secretary of state for Overseas France from 1949 to 1950, secretary of state from 1950 to 1953, minister of public health in 1954 and then minister of labour until February 1955.
