John Ngu Foncha
According to the historian Mélanie Torrent, John Ngu Foncha led the government of Southern Cameroons from February 1959, at the head of the Kamerun National Democratic Party (KNDP). He publicly argued for reunification with the Republic of Cameroon, while first hoping for a temporary separate independence that would have strengthened his hand in the negotiation. After reunification he became vice-president of the Federal Republic of Cameroon.
